PAUA FAQs

Who is PAUA?

PAUA Home Based Childcare is licensed with the Ministry of Education as a home based early childhood education provider. This means we adhere to all the legislative requirements of the Education and Training Act (2008), Education (Early Childhood Services) Regulations 2008 and Licensing Criteria for Home-based Education and Care Services 2008. The licensing criteria states that each Educator will have no more than four preschool children (including their own) with no more than two children under two years in care at any time.

There are different care options within PAUA?

We can provide a PAUA Educator; help you find a Nanny; or enrol your existing Nanny or family member/friend who you already have caring for your preschooler. The choice is yours, which means we can fit around the needs of your whānau.

What would my child learn?

All learning and development is based on Te Whāriki, the New Zealand Early Childhood Curriculum.

Who will monitor their safety and learning?

Our Visiting Teachers (who are all ECE trained and registered) support your Educator in responding to the strengths and interests of your child. They will visit your child at your Educator’s home (at least monthly) as well as catching up with them at community outings and playgroups.

How will I know?

Each time they see your child you will get a photographic learning story of their contact.

What happens next?

What are the costs?

If you have a further question that is not answered above, please feel free to contact us with you question, we would be happy to get back to you with the answer.
