Lea Gardner

Visiting Teacher - South Christchurch | Diploma of Teaching (Early Childhood)

I live in Rolleston with my husband Ray and our two boys Jake and Harley, where we settled after moving from Auckland in 2005. Canterbury has become very much our home and we have become a part of the local community. We are involved with Burnham Swim Club, Rolleston Rugby and City of Christchurch Cadet Unit (Army) and of course have made some awesome friends. We love to go camping, fishing and generally have fun making new memories.

Jake, my eldest son, has a learning disability and this has led me on a journey of discovery into the world of specific learning disabilities; being an advocate for him working alongside different agencies and school staff.   I have also begun study in this area which has given some additional insight thus enhancing my practice.

I have worked a number of years in ECE working in both centres and home based network environments. I especially love supporting adults and tamariki alike seeing them achieving their goals. I believe the relationships developed are enhanced, thus providing unique learning opportunities for our treasured tamariki.
